Embedded System Architecture for Oil Pump using Reconfigurable Computing

The increasing use of Programmable circuits, known as Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA), in digital systems applications is related with its great flexibility, high complexity and logical density, with dedicated processors, embedded memories in the architecture and good performance. This work consists of using resources offered by an embedded system in a FPGA for oil pumping units automation. The system is responsible for the capture, manipulation and packaging up of data in the MODBUS protocol. For this, the reconfigurable processor NiosII and a software system in C language were used. The paper describes the technologies and architectures used and developed to get a product of great potential, high exactness, durability and amply flexible.
