Event-based systems provide domain-specific abstractions that help the development and maintenance of policies in several domains. Although process scheduling policies are generally modelled in terms of system events (e.g., process blocking and unblocking), their implementation does not rely on such a model. This paper presents an event-based architecture for the development of process scheduling policies and its implementation in the Linux kernel.
