Protein fold recognition is one of the main goals of molecular biology. In the context, computational tools, manly Machine Learning (LM) techniques, have been widely used to deal with this problem. This paper presents an empirical comparison of individual machine learning techniques (Decision Trees, Support Vector Machines and Neural Networks) and ensemble approaches (Bagging and Boosting) to the task of protein structural class prediction.
