This paper presents iAIML, a mechanism to treat intentionality in AIML chatterbots based on the Conversational Analysis Theory. An iAIML chatterbot was evaluated by 87 users, showing a better performance than a chatterbot based on standard AIML. This is an original work which aims to facilitate the construction of chatterbots, and to improve their performance.
