Gene expressions determine the production of proteins in the cells ofthe human body. They have an important role on the body structural developmentand can be used to detect several diseases, like cancer. In this work, theauthors investigate the use of Machine Learning Algorithms to classify cancerousand normal tissues using gene expressions obtained from these tissues withboth Artificial Neural Networks and Support Vector Machines. They also proposethe use of Evolutionary Algorithms to improve the eficiency of the studiedalgorithms.
