This work investigates the use of Hybrid Intelligent Systems in the pattern recognition system of an artificial nose. Connectionist and hybrid approaches in odor recognition were investigated. Besides the classifiers, a Wavelet filter as preprocessing method of odors signals from the petroliferous industry is evaluated.
