In this short paper we present our experience in computer science research collaboration from 2005 between LIP6 and PUC-Rio, about agentbased collaborative systems. We show how, from an initial collaboration on the issue of fault-tolerant multi-agent systems, the collaboration expanded to domains such as: governance of open multi-agent systems, context-aware systems, networks, and participatory management of the environment. This is also the opportunity to analyse our experience in terms of collaboration programs (such as: co-directed theses, CAPES-COFECUB, ANR-FINEP).
