This paper presents a new approach to the software release planning problem. This approach presents a mathematical formulation that takes into account several important aspects to this problem, such as stakeholders' satisfaction, costs, deadlines, available resources, efforts needed, risks management and requirements interdependencies. Results from an experimental data set using a well-known metaheuristic show evidence that the proposed approach is very effective to model the features of this problem. Additionally, a comparison of human competitiveness with the proposed approach shows that the proposed approach outperforms human-based solutions.
