This article describes a survey conducted to identify correlations between preferences for technical activities and behavioral profiles for work in a team of software engineers. The context of the research was software engineering undergraduate students at State University of Pernambuco, Brazil. The information about preferences and behavior obtained in a field study involving 100 students received a statistical treatment using the Spearman rank correlation coefficient. The results contributed to a better understanding of the construction of effective software development teams
