This work presents Flexible Secure Service Discovery (FSSD), a protocol for service discovery in ubiquitous systems. Its design is centered at the tradeoff among the levels of collaboration, security and privacy desired by the participants. The proposed approach provides trust management, in addition to descentralized mechanisms to control the exposure and access to the service information. The protocol properties were evaluated with simulation, by varying both system security and privacy levels in order to demonstrate that the proposed approach properly addresses the tradeoff regarding peer collaboration.
