Um estudo do BitTorrent em redes ad hoc sem fio críticas com localidade espaço-temporal

Carlos SouzaJosé Marcos Nogueira

Critical networks are ad hoc networks established autonomously to provide communication in emergencies. In these situations, where the devices have low resources and the network is failure-prone, P2P networks are the best architecture to data dissemination since they are resilient and efficient. In this paper, we study this scenario and show that the BitTorrent network has properties that make it an ideal candidate to be used in critical networks. Meanwhile, BitTorrent can't deal with spatial-temporal locality, a typical property of file transfer applications in critical networks, consisting of many nodes close to each other downloading the same file at the same time. We propose an extension of BitTorrent that solves this problem and improves the BitTorrent performance.
