Currently, the number of applications of ad hoc networks is increasing. Many technologies have arisen from these networks, such as wireless mesh networks and vehicular wireless ad hoc networks. This work analyzes routing algorithms that explore the use of directional antennas along with multiple paths. Both techniques privilege the spatial reuse and the distribution of the traffic in the network. This work defines a metric that reflects the use of each node of the network as a relay node in multiple disjoint paths. The results show a considerable improvement in the distribution of the traffic in these networks. Furthermore, this work compares zone disjoint routing algorithms with node disjoint routing algorithms in different scenarios, showing their advantage and disadvantage.
