This paper presents results from the efficacy evaluation of a fault based testing approach for data schemas, in the context of relational databases. The evaluation was accomplished by using XTool, a tool which implements the test of data schemas by considering previously defined fault classes and generates test data automatically; test data are formed by data instances and queries to these instances. The objective of the test approach is to improve the quality of software applications by assuring the integrity of the data they manipulate, defined by a schema.
