The present work aims at performing automatic tree crown counting in planted Eucalypt forests. High resolution remote sensing imagery and digital image processing using Lee Filters and the unsupervised classification algorithm ISODATA were used. The classification result that best extracted tree crowns was exported to a GIS for tree counting. The resulting number of trees was compared to the number obtained by visual interpretation.
