Model driven engineering is increasingly attracting interest in the research community, due to its applicability in different application domains. In this sense, this paper proposes a platform independent model (PIM) support infrastructure for the development of such applications. To facilitate the development of this class of applications, we propose a UML profile, so-called UML Context-Aware (UML-CW). This profile was developed according to a corresponding context metamodel. The paper also presents a case study illustrating the application of our profile and discusses the creation and use of context models by a context-aware application support platform.
