Service Discovery allows the interaction between network nodes to cooperate in activities or to make use of resources as much as in client-server, multi-layer or peer-to-peer architectures. Ad hoc networks present a great challenge in the adoption of efficient mechanisms of service discovery because its lack of infrastructure and mobility of their nodes. This paper proposes a scalable service discovery architecture based on directory nodes organized in an overlay network. These nodes cover uniformly the ad hoc network, thus diminishing the time of search for one determined service and the number of control messages generated by the architecture.
