This article evaluates the performance of voice transmission in IP networks with QoS support using the APSM-X (Adaptative Packet Size Module - eXtended). This is an adaptive algorithm that increases the efficiency of the transmitted voice packets in a network that offers voice over IP and QoS support. A simulation model was defined based on the RNP (Rede Nacional de Pesquisa) backbone network and was tested under three different load environments (low, average and high load), using the main VoIP compliant vocoders).
