Um Novo Esquema para Controle de Admissão de Chamadas em Redes Móveis sem Fio baseadas no Protocolo IP

Kelvin Lopes DiasJudith KelnerDjamel F. H. Sadok

This paper proposes a novel call admission control (CAC) scheme that avoids per-user reservation signalling overhead and meets the scalability requirement advocated for future all-IP wireless and mobile networks. The novel CAC uses mobility prediction based on mobile positioning systems and takes into account the expected bandwidth to be used by calls handed off from neighbouring cells within an estimation time window. A novel concept called virtual guard band is introduced which aims at preventing pre-reservation in the next predicted cell. Simulation results show that our proposal performs better than reservation-based schemes in terms of handoff dropping probability, call blocking probability and effective utilization.
