Relational database management systems are a very common tecnology used in the most companies around the world. In the same time, XML can be considered as a new data representation designed to allow interoperability among different systems. Considering this scenario, it is very natural to think on both data models, XML and relational, working together. The XRMap is a tool that was implemented based in rules for mapping a XML Schema to a relational schema. This process is automatic, use the standard XML Schema and create primary e foreign keys in the generated relational schema.
