This works presents the design and implementation of a telephony system for a wireless mobile network using IP (Internet Protocol) as the network protocol in a compact wearable equipment. The underlying technologies are analyzed: the technology for wireless mobile environment; the IP layer for mobile networks; the signaling protocols for telephony over IP; voice transport techniques, such as compression methods, error recovering and quality of service. Hardware and software co-design techniques are used according to requirements of a wearable system. The flexible architecture allows the integration of other services, like calendar and phonebook.
