In this work we propose a new technique to describe context in a wireless communication. By doing analysis of temporal and spectral correlation of quality parameters of the radio signal, this new technique can distinguish events such as mobility of a device from interference on the wireless interface and serve this information to an application which wishes to adapt to these scenarios. In our model we use an statistical process control - known as EWMA (Exponentially Weighted Moving Average) control chart - and Wavelet transform to identify patterns on radio signal's quality. We have implemented and tested our new model on two different wireless networks, IEEE 802.11 and Bluetooth, and our results show it works properly on both of them.
