Currently, Web Services for network management have been an intensive field of investigation. However, the investigations carried up to do not properly address the issue related to event notifications. The Simple Network Management Protocol, which is the widely deployed and accepted solution, has an interesting but also limited support for event notification through its trap messages. In this paper we present a distributed event correlation architecture that allowed us to closely investigate the use of Web Services as a tool in network management considering the specific case of notification support. This study complements the investigations under development showing aspects of Web Services for network management that were unknown in the field of event notification.
