The removal of data at the destination in optical packet-switched ring networks allows for spatial reuse of the ring and, consequently, provides high performance. Nevertheless, destination removal may lead to access unfairness. This paper introduces two new protocols to promote fair access to the medium at network node and application flow levels. The performance delivered by these protocols from the TCP standpoint is assessed through computer simulations.
