In this paper, we present the planning, execution, and packaging of an experimental study concerned with feasibility evaluation of the application of a modeling and simulation-based technique to support software project management. The activities that compose the process of executing an empirical software engineering study, from its planning stages to the analysis of data achieved by subjects are covered and detailed. Besides, the paper aims to be used as one more example of how empirical studies can be explored to support statements about software engineering techniques.
