This paper presents the design and implementation of Clumpt, a system to ease software installation and maintenance in computer clusters, which are broadly used for applications requiring high amounts of computational resources. An important characteristic of this system is its peer-to-peer architecture, with data storage and software updates implemented in a decentralized manner. This allows the system to provide scalability and fault tolerance to the software installation process. Such characteristics distinguish Clumpt from the existing solutions.
