This paper describes a Geographic Information System (GIS) that uses the JXTA protocol for data distribution and sharing layers through a peer to peer network. Throughout the paper, concepts involving GIS applications,the OGC spatial metadata specification and JXTA protocol are explored.Spatial data transmission options will also be anayzed as well as tests realized over it.
