This work analyzes service differentiation to guarantee quality of service in 802.11 wireless networks, more specifically in ad hoc networks. Simulations of three medium access methods are made. Two of them, EDCF (Enhanced Distributed Coordination Function) and AEDCF (Adaptive Enhanced Distributed Coordination Function), are inserted in the category of service differentiation. Beyond those two methods, the third method used was the one present in the 802.11 standard, DCF (Distributed Coordination Function). Four metrics of quality of service are verified: throughput, jitter, delay and the package loss.
