Raciocínio Probabilístico em Sistemas Embarcados

This paper presents techniques for probabilistic reasoning (particularly reasoning based on Bayesian networks) in embedded systems located inside machines, vehicles, domestic and medical equipment, security and surveillance devices. The goal of the work is to create tools that empower any embedded device, however small, with the ability to deal with uncertainty. An analysis of existing inference algorithms lead to the use of approximate sampling methods, as these methods employ relatively little memory ­ an essential condition in small embedded devices. Inference algorithms for Bayesian networks have been implemented in a board; this paper describes these algorithms, the implementation and tests with the embedded board.
