Towards Proactive Hypermedia Systems

Luiz Antônio Moro PalazzoAntônio Carlos da Rocha Costa

This paper is about Proactive Hypermedia Systems (PHS), a subclass of Adaptive Hypermedia Systems (AHS), which aims to anticipate user needs and possible requests by applying some kind of inference on a certain hypermedia domain. User modeling plays a fundamental role in such systems, where the user model can be viewed as a constraint set that reduces the hypermedia search space. The paper starts with a short review of AHS basic concepts and technologies. A distributed framework for PHS prototype construction is sketched, with ideas for an agent-oriented architecture and comments about some implementation issues.
