The Business Process Management (BPM) has been widely used as a tool for understanding and improvement of organization's business process. However, there are few empirical studies on adopting BPM in the private sector. This article aims to fill this gap by presenting an exploratory case study in private organizations that initiated the BPM program. As results, this study mapped out the goals that motivated the adoption this concept, the techniques used, the practical results and benefits achieved, and finally the facilitators and barriers faced. Some particularities identified in the adoption of BPM in the private sector contribute to raise a new research in this subject.
