The use of appropriate data structures for storing sets of graphical objects can lead to great performance improvements in the visualization of large figures, such as maps and CAD drawings. We present here a study on the performance of persistent data structures composed by an R-tree and V-trees, for storing and efficiently retrieving 2D graphical objects. Results are shown to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed solutions when applied to large maps.
