This paper presents the results of an experimental study accomplished inside the scope of a master's degree project to characterize and evaluate the cost of application and strength of testing criteria, comparing object oriented and procedural programming paradigms. This study considers functional and structural criteria and uses a set of programs from data structure domain. The main goals in the execution of this research were: i) To obtain initial results above the investigated questions; ii) To generate artifacts which could be used as basis to define and conduct future experiments; iii) To support training and teaching of software testing activity.
