Fast Prototyping Of Sigma-Delta Modulators Using Reconfigurable Analog Arrays

This paper presents the design of a 2nd order sigma-delta modulator implemented in a Field- programmable Analog Array (FPAA) with application in monitoring the quality of a 60Hz power supply. With a maximum oversampling ratio of 200, limited by the reconfigurable device operation frequency, the modulator achieve 9-bit resolution for a 10kHz band of interest. The results demonstrate that this design methodology is an interesting alternative for industrial applications where low cost and fast time-to-market are mandatory.
