The present work shows the design flow of the BSMILC (Biological Signals and Medical Images Lossless Compressor) IP- Core. During all design flow, since conception phase until layout phase, it was used the ipPROCESS [1] as the IP-Core development process. Both FPGA prototyping and ASIC experimental evaluation were made using the electrocardiogram (ECG) records from the MIT-BIH Arrhythmia Database and reached a compression ratio average of 2.32:1 and 2.57:1, respectively, with low memory requirements.
