This work proposes a new restoration method toimprove the quality of mammographic image by usingAnscombe Transform and Wiener Filter for quantumnoise reduction. After noise filtering, it is performed animage enhancement by using a frequency domain inversefilter. This filter was determined according to themammographic unit Modulation Transfer Function(MTF), obtained experimentally for the equipment.Results showed an improvement on CAD performance, forbreast microcalcification detection, when using imagesrestored by the proposed method.
