The distribution of bubble sizes is a critical feature in two-phase systems which involves chemical reactions, heat and mass transfer, and so on. The use of images in order to perform measurements in bubble columns provides information to evaluate applicable systems, such as those are composed of electrical and optical probes. This paper describes an algorithm for bubble image segmentation based on morphological image processing and region growing.
