A new methodology is proposed to leaf venation system segmentation. Combining a chemical clarification process with computer vision techniques, this approach demonstrates excellentaccurate in leaf segmentation. The venation system structure, firstly, secondly and thirdly branches, is highly important to leaf biometric studies. Beside this, biometric features are fundamental in plant species taxonomy. This work report several segmentation experiments with real plant species of the genus Passiflora. The technique proposed was very efficiency in venation system segmentation.
