This work proposes an algorithm for humanskin segmentation on video images, combining technicalapproaches relying on threshold, Wavelet Transformsand Multilayer Perceptron (MPL) neural networks. Resultsof the proposed algorithm are showed and comparedwith an approach that uses a priori knowledge ofhuman skin features in YCrCb color space. The testedenvironments are classified as low, median or high complexitiesin function of illumination conditions and thepresence of objects that have colors similar to the onesof the skin. This algorithm is part of a computer visionsystem for real time gesture acquisition.
