This paper presents an approach for the development of virtual reality distributed applications which utilize CORBA (Common Object Request Broker Architecture) platform as an intermediary communication layer (middleware). This work emphasises the description of this approach, by implementing three prototypes, which formed a comparative basis to study the viability of the ideas hereby used.
