The main objective of this article is to show how Virtual Reality techniques can be exploited to sup-port electric engineering design applications. To achieve such purpose, a CAD system has been developed which allows a virtual house to be automatically generated from a 2D electric installation design. The system allows the user to directly manipulate the 2D objects and simultane-ously to visualize the 3D house project, and vice-versa. The ceiling conduit mesh is automatically constructed and also routes to define the shortest path is generated. Furthermore, the system automatically detects obstacles in the architectonic design and provides a new avoiding path for the electric conduit.
