Existing Virtual Reality (VR) applications for Assembly Training have focused on specific technical issues, such as, collision detection, large models visualization, interaction techniques and so on. This paper presents a survey of VR Assembly systems from the training program point-of-view and proposes a functional conceptual pattern for different "training modes" that could be used for apprentices from novice to expert level.
