Low cost interactive bicycle system

This paper provides a low cost implementation of an indoorergonomic bicycle system allowing the user to navigate in avirtual city. The low cost approach is guaranteed by usingthe ARToolkit library as an alternative way to capture thebicycle speed and the use of mouse buttons to control movementdirection in the virtual world. Besides we intend tostudy the user reaction in relation to different stimuli duringthe exercise. The first scenario is based on a passive videoclip stimulus and the second one is based on an interactivevirtual stimulus. As a result, usability tests are performedto identify practical basis that explains how virtual realityinterfaces might provide motivation for interactive fitnessapplications.
