This paper presents a proposal for temporal interpretation of the "futuro do preterito" in Portuguese narrative texts. This tense is similar to the "future in the past" in English, which is denoted by the words "would" and "was going to". The proposal is an extention of Rodrigues' work [Rodrigues 1995], which deals with other past tenses. Here we present the adopted formalism and define some plausible relations to the time conveyed by the temporal interpretation of the sentences.
