This article describes the formulation of the ASPA (Sound Assessment of Current Portuguese). This is an interdisciplinary project and was developed by researchers associated to LABFON and CEFALA laboratories. An automatic transcriber and parser for isolated words of Brazilian Portuguesewhere developed under the name LETRASON. Futhermore, the ASPA project offers a database which contains the categorization of the most frequent words in LAEL/PUC-SP Corpus. This database intends to be a great tool for studies in Probabilistic Phonology and Voice Synthesis.
