This paper discusses the rate resource allocation with power constraintin multiple access multi-class networks under heuristic optimization perspective.Multirate users associated with different types of traffic are aggregatedto distinct user' classes, with the assurance of minimum target rate allocationper user and QoS. Therein, single-objective optimization (SOO) methodologyunder swarm intelligence approach was carried out aiming to achieve promisingperformance-complexity tradeoffs. The results are promising in terms of sumrate maximization while simultaneously minimizing the total power allocated tothe multirate mobile terminals is minimized.
