Remapping virtual network topologies over the physical substrate isan important feature and provides flexibility to virtual network environments.Topology remapping, over the OpenFlow platform, is simple because it is equivalentto reset flow definitions. The control of an OpenFlow network, however,is centralized, which represents a single point of failure. On the other hand, theXen virtualization platform allows instantiating virtual environments, with distributedcontrol, but the topology remapping is restrictive and complex. In thispaper, we propose a hybrid virtualization system, based on Xen and OpenFlowplatforms. The proposal main goal is creating virtual networks with distributedcontrol, in which the topology remapping is flexible, simple and robust. Wedeveloped a prototype and our results show that the proposed system has performedbetter than the Xen virtual machine migration, and also allows migratingvirtual topologies among local area networks, without creating tunnels.
